Super Eagles striker, Simy Nwankwo was the star man for promotion chasers Crotone as he produced a near-perfect outing in their 1-1 draw at home to Chievo Verona to remain on course for an automatic promotion ticket, reports.

With 13 league goals already this campaign, the lanky forward led the line for the hosts whilst the visitors also handed Eagles midfielder Joel Obi a starting shirt with the visitors also keen on remaining in the playoffs zone.

Crotone however took the lead against the run of play on 21 minutes when Ahmed Benali fed Salvatore Molina with the midfielder making no mistake to net his first league goal of the campaign and put them one goal up.

Obi, who was equally impressive in the middle of the park for the visitors, however, picked up a booking before the hour mark and was later replaced by Hervin Ongenda as they pushed for a late equalizer.

They were then rewarded two minutes from time as Damil Ceter tucked home to give a huge blow to the hosts when he converted off a Francesco Renzetti assist to ensure both teams shared the points.

Simy did emerge his side’s best player despite failing to find the net with a rating of 7.6, making 2 key passes, completing 100% of his take-ons, winning 12 duels, and also putting up a decent defensive display.

On the other hand, Joel Obi also finished in the green with a rating of 7.1, completing 86% of his passes, making one key pass, winning 11 duels, and also making 6 big tackles in the match.

The result however sees Crotone remain on second position with 50 points whilst Chievo remains 8th with 42 points.
