Nigerian forward, Blessing Eleke was the hero for Swiss side FC Luzern as he came off the bench to keep their European dream alive when he scored what proved to be the winner to down FC Basel on matchday 24 of the Switzerland Super League, reports.

With eight points and three places behind their visitors, the hosts left the Nigerian on the bench for the clash with Italian forward Francesco Margiotta preferred to lead the line for FC Luzern.

He, however, did not disappoint as he gave his side a half time lead when he made the most of an Ibrahima Ndiaye assist.

With 20 minutes left on the clock, Eleke replaced the goal scorer for what was his 19th appearance of the campaign and the forward made the most of it when he made it 2-0 nine minutes from time to give his side an assured lead.

The visitors then grabbed a consolation goal four minutes from time but the hosts held on for all 3 points as they moved up to 5th on the log, 4 points behind the race for Europa League qualification.
