Super Eagles midfielder, Mikel Agu showed why he remains one of the most prominent players at Vitoria de Guimaraes after he produced a near-perfect display to help them to a 2-0 win over his former club Vitoria de Setubal, AOIFootball.com reports.
Having last featured for the club in December 2019, the combative midfielder, who has been out injured for a while, returned to the starting XI for the first time in six months as the hosts eyed a win to boost their slim European chances.
Andre Andre missed a golden chance to put Guimaraes in front when he missed from 12 yards after just four minutes but his blushes were however spared when Agu robbed the ball from a Setubal player in the midfield to set up Marcus Edwards who in turn produced an empathetic finish to make it 1-0.
Second-half substitute Abou Ouattara then made the most of a defensive misunderstanding to double the hosts lead when he exquisitely chipped from well over 35 yards with the goalkeeper well off his line to seal a 2-0 win.
Agu, who was on for the entire match duration deservedly walked home with the man of the match award after an impressive rating of 8.0, completed 80% of his passes, won 7 duels, made four key interceptions and tackles each and also completed 100% of his dribbles.
