Nigerian international, Simy Nwankwo produced one of his best performances of the season after banging in a superb hat-trick on Friday night to help promotion chasers Crotone to a 3-0 win over Benevento, reports.


In a clash between second and first on the log, the hosts returned Simy to the starting XI as they hoped to put some gap between themselves and third place Cittadella.


The Nigerian however needed just 14 minutes to show his impact when be headed home an Alberto Gerbo cross for 1-0 before getting his brace four minutes later to make it 2-0.


Simy was then booked for a needless challenge just before the half time whistle with Crotone going into the break with a healthy 2-0 lead.


The 28-year-old then scored his first hat-trick of the campaign 19 minutes from time when he combined with Alberto Gerbo again to make it 3-0 and seal a vital three points for Crotone in their chase for promotion to the Serie A.


Simy, who was replaced after 80 minutes of action deservedly walked home with the man of the match award, finishing with a rating of 9.3, scoring from all of his shots on target, completing 72% of his passes, winning 5 duels and also completing 100% of his take-ons.
