Super Eagles defender, Chidozie Awaziem has expressed confidence in the ability of his Leganes side to survive relegation after they fought hard to earn a 1-0 victory away at Espanyol to put their survival hopes back on track, reports.

The 23-year-old, who came into the game in the closing stages of the encounter, told afterwards that the squad remains determined to beat the drop and would fight till the end to ensure they remain in the top division.

“Massive win for us today I must admit; I believe in the team 100%. The spirit the guys are putting in the team is massive and I believe we are going to achieve our aim and beat the drop.

“We are trying our best game by game and we showed huge character today so hopefully we can maintain this and turn it around in our remaining games,” Awaziem said.

Jonathan Silva’s 53rd-minute strike was the difference for the visitors who ended their abysmal run of seven games without a win to move seven points behind Alaves with just four games left in the season.
