Super Eagles midfielder, Mikel Agu produced yet another near perfect performance for Vitoria de Guimarães as they claimed an important 1-0 win away at Portimonense to keep their slim hopes of a European place finish alive, AOIFootball.com reports.
Following a man of the match performance midweek, the former FC Porto midfielder kept his place in the starting XI for the visitors who were hoping to record back to back victories for the first time since March.
In a tense first half largely dominated by the hosts, Agu was impressive in the heart of the midfield for his side as they went into the break goalless.
With pressure mounting in the second half, the visitors made a double substitution after the hour mark with the result yielding positive results as they took the lead moments later.
A well directed ball from Agu in the midfield set the attack rolling with Falaye Sacko producing an in swinging cross from the flank with substitute Bruno Duarte Da Silva heading home to seal all three points.
The Eagle’s midfielder was on for the entire match duration, finishing with a rating of 7.2, completing 83.9% of his passes, winning 7 duels, making 5 clearances, 4 key tackles and also making one interception and one blocked shot.
The result now moves Vitoria up to 6th on the log with 46 points, seven points behind 4th place Braga who occupy the final European qualifying spot.
