Nigerian forward, Simy Nwankwo continued his blistering form in front of goal after he scored for the fourth time in two games to help Crotone remain on course for promotion when they defeated Cittadella 3-1 away from home, reports.

Smarting from his perfect hat-trick against Benevento last time out, the 28-year-old started his 30th league game of the campaign with Crotone hoping to stretch their unbeaten run to an impressive 9 games.

They however wasted no time in taking the lead when Junior Messias made the most of a clumsy throw by the goalkeeper to dispossess defender before firing into an empty net on the 11th minute to make it 1-0.

Simy then doubled his side’s lead with a sweet finish on the 37th minute when he produced a deft touch to go round his marker before also beating the goalkeeper at the near post to slot home for 2-0 and record his 17th league goal of the campaign.

Junior Messias then grabbed his brace four minutes after the half time break with a similar finish like his first to make it 3-0 with substitute Giuseppe Panico grabbing a consolation after the hour mark to put some respect in the scoreline.

The strike now sees Simy remain in the third position in the race for the golden shoe, one goal behind Perugia’s Pietro Iemmello who leads the with 18 goals.
