Super Eagles forward Simy Nwankwo equaled a personal best of 20 goals to help Crotone secure promotion back to the Serie A following their 5-1 away win at Livorno, reports.

Having failed to pick maximum points last weekend, the visitors were hoping to extend their unbeaten run to an incredible 12 games with promotion also well within their reach with a win at the Armando Picchi.

The hosts however took a surprise lead twelve minutes into the encounter when Mattia Trovato converted from a Gabriele Morelli assist to put Livorno 1-0 up.

The goal then spurred Crotone into action as they soon found their way back just after the half-hour mark when Niccolo Zanellato equalized for 1-1.

Simy then got into the act four minutes later when he finished off a brilliant run in the flank by Junior Messias to double his side lead before Alberto Gerbo made it 3-1 on 40 minutes to complete a perfect first-half comeback.

Salvatore Molina then made it 4-1 ten minutes after the break before Simy then netted his 20th league goal of the campaign from 12 yards to make it 5-1 and seal all 3 points for Crotone.

The victory confirms Crotone’s return to the elite division as they now stay 9 points clear of third-place Spezia with just two games left in the regular season.
