Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun has continued to make the news in Scotland after his near-perfect debut for Rangers last weekend put his name on the SPFL Team of the Week, reports.

The 32-year-old was at his commanding best in the heart of Rangers defence, helping them to a clean sheet in their 1-0 win away at Aberdeen.

Balogun, who featured for the entire 90 minutes, was the only Ranger in the XI as defending champions Celtic dominated the list with three players.

The SPFL wrote on their site acknowledging the impressive work of the former Mainz 05 defender despite just joining the club less than a week ago.
“A very impressive start from the summer signing saw him dominate opposing attackers in Rangers’ 1-0 victory over Aberdeen as the two clubs got the Scottish Premiership season underway.

The Eagles defence marshal lines up alongside Hibernian Ryan Porteous and Celtic duo of Jeremie Frimpong and Greg Taylor complete the back four.

Balogun and his team will however turn their attention to Thursday’s Europa League Round of 16 clash away at Bayern Leverkusen as they need all the luck in the world to overturn the 3-1 deficit they suffered at the Ibrox last March.
