Nigerian international Joel Obi continued his fantastic form with Serie B side Chievo Verona as he help set up a goal in their 2-0 win over Spezia in the first leg of their semifinal playoffs clash, reports.

Having helped overcome Empoli in the previous round, the former Super Eagles midfielder started in the heart of the midfield for the hosts who were hoping to stretch their unbeaten run to five since their last defeat during the regular season.

They however needed just two minutes to show their intent in the clash when captain Filip Dordevic fired them ahead after just 90 seconds before Obi then produced a dashing run on the flanks seven minutes later to set up Jacob Segre to make it 2-0.

Goalkeeper Adrian Semper then ensured Chievo will go into Monday’s second leg with a healthy lead when he saved from Matteo Ricci two minutes before the hour mark to protect the 2-0 win for the hosts who now have a foot in the final of the promotion playoffs.

Obi, who was on for the entire match duration finished with a rating of 7.6, made 3 key passes, completed 75% of his passes, won 10 duels, and also made 5 big clearances.
