Former Sunshine Stars of Akure skipper, Godfrey Oboabona has disclosed that he is still interested in wearing the Super Eagles jersey despite not featuring for the team since March 2016, reports.

Now with FC Dinamo Batumi in Georgia, the 30-year-old, who has been capped 39 times by Nigeria, stated that his wealth of experience which includes winning the AFCON in 2013 and also featuring in the World Cup a year later, can be a perfect motivation for the younger ones in the squad.

“Of course, I still hope to play for Nigeria again. I’m waiting all day and by God’s grace I hope I will be recalled one day,” Oboabona said.

He further advised the crop of younger players coming to be determined and focused to ensure they reach the top of their footballing career.

“The younger players have to be focused, work hard, and be determined in what they want because the journey is not an easy one to embark on,” Oboabona said.

The 30-year-old formed a solid partnership with Kenneth Omeruo at the 2013 AFCON in South Africa when the Eagles braved the odds to lift their 3rd continental crown.
