Ahead of the 2020/2021 Portuguese Premiera Liga season, Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Agu has set his sights on yet another eventful season with Vitoria Guimarães as he hopes to stay fit to help them do better this campaign, reports.

Despite battling with injuries the last term, the 27-year-old was one of his side’s best performers on the pitch as they narrowly missed out on European qualifying after finishing 6th on the log with Agu now determined to do more and ensure they make it this season.

The former FC Porto man was a constant name on the Portuguese team of the week following his impressive displays in the middle of the park with Agu now saying that he wants to continue to improve on his game weekly.

“The new season starts this weekend and we have a home game against Belenenses this Friday. Hopefully, we can pick up the maximum points and begin a long marathon journey.

“Personally, the goal is to always do better than my last game, so I want to take every game as it comes and constantly improves on it and keep helping the team in every way I can because we are very much determined to do better than the last campaign,” Agu concluded.

With ball interception, retention, and positioning a key aspect of his game, Agu was a standout performer in 16 of his league games, averaging 84% accurate passes per game, an average of 2 interceptions and 3 key tackles per game, whilst also winning an average of 6 duels per game.
