Super Eagles goalkeeper, Dele Alampasu has rated the Latvian League otherwise called the Virsliga highly after the 2019/2020 league season wrapped up last week, reports.

The former Golden Eaglets World Cup winner, who plays for Ventspils, posited that the competition in the league was tough and that it produces very talented players who are exported in short periods to bigger leagues which have been the bane of the Latvian League.

“The Virsliga is a tough league. I know because I play in it. A lot of football people easily berate the league because the country is small and is located in North-Eastern Europe, hence their football can not be compared to other leagues.

“It is not so. The only problem the league suffers is the fact that good players are easily and often shipped out to major leagues in Europe and that constantly affects the quality of the league,” Alampasu stated.

The shot-stopper also expressed his delight following a great season where he was able to revive his football career and was even invited to the National team after a long while.

“The season was great for me and it was an opportunity to revive my career and I really feel good about it. I look forward to a better season next year,” he concluded.
