Super Eagles left-back, Zaidu Sanusi continued his impressive form in the Portuguese league when he scored his first goal for league chasers, FC Porto, in their 4-3 win over Tondela, AOIFootball.com reports.
Fresh from an amazing outing last week against Manchester City in the Champions League, the 23-year-old started his 5th league game of the campaign as the hosts hoped to close the gap on early leaders Sporting CP.
The Nigerian however needed just 3 minutes to open the scoring when he ran through the length of the pitch to finish off an amazing counter-attacking move to fire home from close range.
The goal did bring out the best from the visitors as they equalized in 20 minutes via the boots of Mario Gonzalez before Rafael Barbosa shocked the hosts moments later when he made it 2-1 to Tondela.
Down and still very much in the game, Malian forward Moussa Marega equalized before half time before the 29-year-old restored Porto’s lead three minutes after the break for 3-2.
Mahdi Taremi then put some breathing space between both clubs as he made it 4-2 to Porto before the hour mark with Mario Gonzalez pulling one back for the visitors to set up a nervy finish.
Mateus Uribe was then sent off in the closing stages but the host held on for the win as they closed the gap on Sporting to just 4 points after recording their 6th win of the campaign.
Sanusi, who was on for the entire match duration, earned a game rating of 7.6, made 4 interceptions, 3 key tackles, won 6 duels, and also completed 86% of his passes.
