Super Eagles winger Alex Iwobi put up yet another impressive performance for Everton as they continued their steady rise on the EPL table, beating Chelsea 1-0 at home in a matchday 12 game, reports.

Having been hailed by his manager Carlo Ancelotti before the game, the former Arsenal man reverted to his normal forward position having played and impressed as wing-back for the past few games.

The 24-year-old did start the game on a strong foot as he made life difficult for left-back Ben Chilwell, ensuring the Chelsea full-back was kept in his half in the opening exchanges.

With 22 minutes on the clock, the hosts took a deserved lead when a long clearance from Jordan Pickford found the head of Calvert Lewis before the striker was brought down afterwards by Mendy and Gylfi Sigurdsson stepped up to convert for 1-0.

Everton then had to survive a series of attacks as Chelsea came close to equalizing twice in quick succession from Recce James but it was Everton who held on to take a 1-0 lead going into the break.

The second half was however more of the first as Everton endured a late onslaught to return to winning ways and move just two points behind Chelsea who miss the chance to go top with a win.

Iwobi, who was pulled out in the closing stages had a fantastic game rating of 7.0, completed all 5 of his take-ons, won 5 duels and was also present defensively as he made 1 clearance and 2 interceptions.
