Super Eagles defender Oluwasemogo Ajayi was the match hero for relegation strugglers West Bromwich Albion as they shocked bookmakers to earn a valuable point in their matchday 13 EPL clash away at Manchester City, AOIFootball.com reports.
On the back of consecutive league defeats against Crystal Palace and Newcastle, the newly-promoted side had their hands full against a Manchester City side who were hoping to make amends following their weekend goalless draw in the Manchester Derby.
As expected Pep Guardiola side dominated the early exchanges with the visitors made to do plenty of defending as the game began to crave plenty of goal scoring opportunities.
With half an hour fine the Citizens took the lead against the run of play following a patient buildup as Raheem Sterling had to be alert to keep the ball in play before finding midfielder ilkay Gündogan who fired home from 10 yards to make it 1-0.
City’s lead did however just last for 13 minutes as the Baggies equalized two minutes before the break when Ajayi made the most of City’s sloppiness to clear from a free-kick as he short was deflected in by Ruben Dias to make it 1-1.
The visitors did go on to ensure a mirage of attack in the second half as they held on for just their second away point of the season but remain in the relegation zone with 7 points from 13 games played so far.
Ajayi who was on for the entire match duration did produce a fine rating of 7.2, making 9 clearances, 2 blocked shots, and one key tackle.
