Super Eagles duo of Joe Aribo and Leon Balogun produced a near-perfect performance in the colors of runaway champions Rangers as they claimed a fantastic double over rivals Rangers beating them 1-0 at the Ibrox Stadium, reports.

Unbeaten in their opening 21 league games of the season, head coach Steven Gerrard made two changes to the squad that defeated St. Mirren on Wednesday with Balogun and Kent replacing the duo of Helander and Ianis with Aribo retaining his spot in the midfield.

The visitors however started the brightest and had and had the first chance of the game after just three minutes, Odsonne Edouard tested McGregor with an angled shot before James Tavernier made a good block to deny Callum McGregor a rebound.

Celtic continued to be the better of the two sides going into the break and came close to breaking the deadlock but Allan McGregor made an outrageous save to deny the visitors with both sides heading into the break goalless.

Gerrard then switched to his bench at half time, bringing on Ianis Hagi and the Romanian had the first shot of the second half, a super, curling effort which only just went by Vasilis Barkas’ post from 25-yards.

Ryan Christie made a good block to deny Morelos getting a shot away on the turn following fine Aribo work, while Leon Balogun made a super, last-ditch tackle on Edouard to prevent him from troubling McGregor.

Celtic were then reduced to 10-man with Rangers going on to break the deadlock eight minutes later, Tavernier’s superb ball was lanced on at the front post by Joe Aribo before Callum McGregor sent the ball beyond Barkas and into his own net to seal a vital win for Rangers who move 19 points clear of their title rivals.

The impressive Aribo was adjudged the best player on the pitch with a rating of 7.6 whilst Balogun, who kept his 8th clean sheet of the campaign, earned a game rating of 7.3.
