Nigerian international and Rio 2016 Olympic bronze medalist, Umar Sadiq continued his amazing start to 2021 as he scored twice for LaLiga 2 side Almeria as they made light work of Deportivo Alves to reach the quarterfinals whilst it wasn’t the same for Kenneth Omeruo who failed to inspire his Leganes side to victory, reports.

Kenneth Omeruo: The Eagles center-back was given the nod by head coach Jose Lluis Marti as they hosted LaLiga side Sevilla in what was a difficult task to reach the quarterfinals of the cup competitions.

A rugged defensive display saw Leganes force the game into extra time after 90 minutes ended goalless but the visitors showed their class in extra time when Lucas Ocampos found the winner six minutes into extra time to knock out Leganes.

Omeruo who featured for 105 minutes before he was replaced had a game rating of 6.8, making 7 clearances, 3 interceptions, 1 tackle whilst also completing 82% of his passes attempted.

Umar Sadiq: The former AS Roma striker continues to send strong signals to Eagles coach Gernot Rohr as he took his tally for the season to 11 with a brace against Deportivo Alves to help his side progress to the next round of the Spanish Cup.

A perfect link-up play allowed Jose Corpas to set up Umar who still had plenty to do before he then ruffled home on eight-minute to give the host a 1-0 lead.

Tomas Pina then saw red for the visitors on 35 minutes before the host struck twice in quick succession first from Ager Aketxe whose low shot was mishandled by the goalkeeper before Sadiq made it 3-0 seconds later to put Almeria in the driving seat at the break.

Rodrigo Battaglia then put through his own goal to make it 4-0 before substitute Juan Villar wrapped up the win with a penalty goal on 81 minutes.

Sadiq was expectedly named the man of the match, picking up a rating of 8.3.
