Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo believes his side have all it takes to compete at the top level of Spanish football after their heartbreaking 1-0 extra-time loss to Sevilla in the round of 16 of the Spanish Cup, AOIFootball.com.
The former Middlesbrough of England defender featured for 105 minutes as a lone strike from Lucas Ocampos ensured Leganes’ impressive run in the cup came to an end.
A not too disappointed Omeruo however now believes that his side can take plenty of positives from the clash against one of Europe’s top teams and go on to gain promotion from the second tier of Spanish football at the end of the season.
“100% focused on the league now. We very well competed in the Cup game against Sevilla, a game that should now motivate us to go up,” Omeruo posted afterwards.
Leganes are currently 6th on the log, holding a place in the promotion playoffs spot but however remain 8 points adrift of automatic promotion places having played one game less than second-place Mallorca.
