Nasarawa United FC defender, Franklin Uchenna Tebo won the man of the match award for the second consecutive home game in their hard-fought 1-0 victory over Katsina United FC in the ongoing season of the Nigeria Professional Football League, AOIFootball.com reports.
The workaholic center-back, who was exceptional in his movement and control of his team’s backline, won the hearts of about 70% members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) present at the match, beating the scorer of the only goal of the game, Uzochukwu Chigozie to the award.
The Lafia- based side have now gone five matches without tasting defeat and are the only team yet to be beaten in the league so far, and sitting second on the NPFL table, making it arguably their best start to a season in the Nigerian top flight.
In his post-match reaction, the former FC Abuja defence trojan said: “I’m very happy with the man of the match award, but I must confess, I’m not yet satisfied.
“We’ve only played 5 games in a league of 38 matches, so it’s still a long way from here.
“I appreciate my teammates, the technical crew, and all who had inputs to ensure victory was achieved today; we’re indeed bonding as a team and we look forward to more successes,” Franklin said.
