Super Eagles forward, Simy Nwankwo made it back to back goals in the Italian Serie A on Sunday night as he could do little to stop his relegation-threatened Crotone side following their 1-2 loss away at Fiorentina, reports.

Still basking in the euphoria of his man of the match performance against Benevento last time out, the 28-year-old kept his place in the starting XI with the visitors hoping to earn back to back win for the first time this season.

Despite a very positive start to the game, the visitors had their work cut out for them after 20 minutes when Giacomo Bonaventura produced a moment of pure magic as his shot from outside the box beat everyone before flying into the top half of the net for 1-0.

Former Bayern Munich star, Frank Ribery then got into the act as he provided the assist for Dusan Vlahovic to make it 2-0 as the host went into the break in the driving seat.

Simy then set up a tense finale when he halved the deficit six minutes after the hour mark, heading home from a Pedro Pereira cross to make it 2-1 but the host held on to claim all three points with Crotone suffering their 13th loss of the season.

With his strike Simy has now equaled his best ever tally of goals in Serie A, matching the 7 goals he scored during the 2017/2018 season a feat which earned him a place in Nigeria’s Russia World Cup squad.
