Super Eagles forward, Paul Onuachu stepped up his wild chase for the European golden shoe on Wednesday night as he took his goal tally to 22 for the season when he inspired KRC Genk back to winning ways, reports.

Without a win in their last 3 league games, the hosts were hoping to record their second win of 2021 with SV Zulte Waregem making the trip to the Luminus Arena.

With the first half certain to end goalless, the impressive Onuachu broke the deadlock just before the break as he finished off a Daniel Munoz assist to make it 1-0 to Genk.

The Eagles striker then doubled his side’s lead eight minutes after the restart, finishing off a Bryan Heynen assist before Junyo Ito made it 3-0 seven minutes after the hour mark.

Down but not out, the visitors pulled one back via the boots of Laurens De Bock before a Gianni Bruno penalty on 88 minutes set up a tense finale but the hosts held on to clinch a  vital 3-2 win.
