Super Eagles Head Coach Gernot Rohr has returned to Nigeria ahead of next month’s AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho as the Eagles hope to seal yet another place in Africa’s elite competition, AOIFootball.com reports.
Rohr is expected to make public his list of invited players for the clash in the coming weeks with the likes of Francis Uzoho and Henry Onyekuru expected to make a return to the team whilst there might be no place for Hoffenheim defender Kelvin Akpoguma who has been out injured.
Having failed to win a game in 2020, the Franco-German will look to assemble a strong squad for the qualifiers with the Eagles needing just one point from their last two games to seal qualification.
With a one-point lead over second-place Benin Republic, Nigeria will travel to the French-speaking nation on the 23rd of March hoping to complete a double over their neighbours having won the reversed fixture 2-1 in November of 2019.
The Eagles will then host bottom side Lesotho five days later in Nigeria with a view to sealing qualification after winning the first leg 4-2 courtesy of a Victor Osimhen masterclass.
