Super Eagles defender, Shehu Abdullahi is upbeat of a better 2021 for all fans of the senior men’s national team as they bid to reach yet another Nations Cup with games against Benin Republic and Lesotho in March, AOIFootball.com reports.
The versatile player, who has been in impressive form for Cyprus side Omonia Nicosia, told AOIFootball.com exclusively after his win against a fellow Eagle in Francis Uzoho, that he is already looking forward to wearing the Eagles jersey again.
“The games are crucial to our AFCON ticket and the last time it wasn’t good for us. We hope to make it up for Nigerians and get the job done, pick the AFCON ticket, play well and win the games.
“It’s always a great privilege to be part of the team and represent our lovely country. I’m looking forward to the games and I hope the coach will invite me because nothing is given yet on that,” Abdullahi said.
The former Kano Pillars man continued his fine form for Omonia as they defeated APOEL Nicosia 1-0 in Nicosia to open up a four-point lead at the top of the Cyprus 1st Division.
