Nigerian internationals Mikel Agu and Chidozie Awaziem went toe-toe on Friday night in the Portuguese league when Vitoria SC hosted relegation battlers Boavista at the Dom Afonso Henriques, reports.

Having recovered from an injury he suffered last November against Sporting CP, midfielder Mikel Agu was named on the bench for the host whilst Awaziem started for the visitors who were seeking their first back-to-back league win of the campaign.

Despite being on the back foot for the most part of the opening minutes, the visitors took a shock lead inside 17 minutes when Ricardo Mangas put them ahead much to the disappointment of the host who felt they should have done better defending.

Victoria SC however made their dominance count as they leveled just before the break with Rochina converting from an Oscar Estupinan assist to make it 1-1.

Captain Andre Andre then completed the comeback minutes after the hour mark when he scored from 12 yards to make it 2-1 after Ricardo Manga handled the ball in his own penalty area.

Mikel Agu then replaced Rochina with 7 minutes left as the midfielder came on for his first appearance of the year to help protect the lead with Vitoria SC winning 2-1 on the night.

Despite the loss, Chidozie Awaziem still produced a fine display for Boavista, earning a rating of 7.0, making 7 clearances, 4 interceptions, 2 key tackles and also winning 9 duels.
