Former Manchester United striker, Odion Jude Ighalo scored his first brace for new club Al-Shabab as they continued their surge in the Saudi Arabia Premier League, winning 1-2 win away at Damac FC, reports.

Starting just his second league game since joining them, the 31-year-old needed just 17 minutes to show his scoring prowess when he headed home the opener off an Abdullah Al-Zoari pass.

Their lead however lasted just eight minutes as sloppy play from the Al-Shahab midfield allowed Emiliano Zeleya to head home and make it 1-1.

Ighalo then restored his side’s lead just before the halftime whistle when he again headed home, this time from a Fabio Martins cross to make it 2-1 and complete his brace in just 27 minutes.

Both sides however failed to replicate the first-half performance with Ighalo denied his first hat-trick when the VAR canceled his goal.

The former Super Eagles striker was deservedly named man of the match with a rating of 8.4, as Al-Shahab extended their lead at the top of the SPL to 44 points, 5 points ahead of second-place Al-Hilal.
