Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye ended a run of three consecutive league defeats with his Sparta Rotterdam side as they fell to a last gasp goal to draw 1-1 with FC Emmen on matchday 25 of the Eredivisie, reports.

Without a win in all of their last 7 league games, the Eagles shot stopper kept his place in goal for the 18th consecutive league game with the visitors hoping to earn just their 7th win of the campaign.

In what was an evenly matched first 45 minutes, the visitors took the lead just before halftime when Laros Duarte opened the scoring for Rotterdam on 43 minutes.

Down but still very much in the game, the hosts were by far the better side in the second period and made constant threats to Rotterdam goal but the impressive Okoye stood firm to deny them of four separate attempts.

But just when they thought they had sealed all three points, the visitors were handed a gift from 12 yards when the VAR spotted an infringement in the box with Michael De Leeuw stepping up to send Okoye the wrong way and make it 1-1.

“Disappointed not to get all 3 points. We go again on Tuesday!,” Okoye twitted afterwards.

The 21-year-old had a game rating of 7.4, made 5 key saves, 2 punches, won 100% of his aerial duels, and also made 2 key clearances.
