Super Eagles defender, Chidozie Awaziem was at his playing best for Portuguese side Boavista on Saturday night as they boosted their chances of avoiding relegation following an impressive 3-0 win at home to FC Famalicao, reports.

Bottom of the table and just the places separating them and Familicao, the host were desperate for all three points, having just won once in their last 5 league outings.

They however got the perfect start they desired when they took the lead on 17 minutes after Chidozie Awaziem headed a corner kick towards the part of Ricardo Mangas who then also headed the ball past the goalkeeper to make it 1-0.

Brazilian midfielder Paulinho then doubled Boavista’s lead five minutes after the hour mark before the visitors were reduced to 10 men following the sending off to Manuel Ugarte by the VAR.

Substitute Sabastian Perez then sealed the win for the host with what was his first touch seconds after coming on as the host claimed all three points to move out of the relegation zone and stay 14th with 21 points.

Awaziem, who played the entire match duration had a game rating of 7.1, made 4 clearances, won 4 duels, and also completed 82% of his passes.
