Super Eagles winger, Henry Onyekuru sent a clear message to Coach Gernot Rohr after being named in the team’s standby list when he came off the bench to score twice for Galatasaray in their 3-0 win away at Kayserispor, AOIFootball.com reports.
Without a goal since the beginning of February, the 23-year-old was named among the substitutes for the trip to Kayseri with fellow Nigerians Oghenekaro Etebo and Valentine Ozornwafor also named among the reserves.
Colombian forward Radamel Falcao gave the visitors the lead just before the halftime whistle before Onyekuru was introduced after the hour mark for the visitors as they looked to find the key second goal to seal off the win.
The Nigerian then ensured the victory was in the bag for the visitors when he squared off Falcao and the Colombian striker’s attempt hitting the woodwork before the ball fell kindly to Onyekuru who tapped home to give his side a 2-0 lead.
The Eagles forward was at it again, eight minutes later as he raced on from a lovely pass from Sofiane Feghouli before he then kept his composure to slot past the goalkeeper and make it 3-0, a result which sees Galatasaray move up to second on the log.
Just on for 22 minutes, the former Everton man was named man of the match with a rating of 8.9, as he now took his tally of the season to 5 goals from 9 games played so far.
“Amazing team effort today, solid away win, and happy with my 2 late goals. All Glory to God,” Onyekuru posted afterward.
