The camp of the Super Eagles officially opened on Sunday night with the arrival of key members of the team ahead of this week’s AFCON qualifiers against the Benin Republic and Lesotho respectively, reports.

Captain Ahmed Musa led the early birds into the camp despite only being part of the team as a non-playing player with England based trio of William Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina, and Semi Ajayi also touching down.

Also present as at the time of this report were Turkey-based duo of Oghenekaro Etebo and Henry Onyekuru who both flew into the country together as Onyekuru marks his return to the team since his bronze medal win at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.

Already in the camp are officials of the team with head coach Gernot Rohr also very much present, having graced the NPFL game at the Soccer Temple earlier on Sunday when MFM fell 2-1 at home to Akwa United.

Rohr will most definitely be happy with the early arrivals of some of his key players with other members of the squad expected into that country later on Monday having had to play games on Sunday for their respective clubs.

Nigeria currently tops Group L with 8 points from their opening 4 games and will face The Squirrels of Benin on Saturday the 27th of March before hosting Lesotho three days later in Lagos, in what should be a memorable end to the qualifying campaign.
