Nigeria’s Kelechi Nwakali scored his second league goal in as many games for LaLiga 2 side Alcorcon as they boosted their survival hopes following a hard-fought 2-1 win over CD Castellon, reports.

Without a win in their last 5 league outings, the hosts were hoping to arrest their abysmal form of late and close the gap on Castallon with the fight for survival very much in their hands.

Former Newcastle United striker Xiso put Alcorcon ahead after just four-minute but their joy was short-lived 18 minutes later when Adrien Lapena equalized for the visitors to make it 1-1 on the night.

Having earlier had his free-kick go agonizingly wide, the impressive Nwakali got a chance 17 minutes from time from yet another setpiece and this time, he kept his composure to lift the ball beyond the wall and into the net for 2-1.

He was then replaced at the end of the clash after earning his side their 9th league win of the campaign and move them one point off relegation safety.

The former U-17 World Cup winner was rightly named man of the match following yet another impressive outing with a rating of 7.8, successful 3 key passes, 10 duels won, and 100% completion of his dribbles.
