Super Eagles defender, Chidozie Awaziem continued his captaincy role for Portuguese side Boavista as they boosted their survival hopes on Friday night following an impressive 2-0 win at home to Pacos de Ferreira to move out of the relegation zone, AOIFootball.com reports.

The on-loan Porto man lined up for his 22nd league outing for the host as they went in search of trust for their sixth win in the league this term.

Gambian forward Yusupha Njie combined with Alberth Elis to put the hosts ahead after just 13 minutes before former Manchester United young star Angel Gomes doubled their lead before half time to give them a 2-0 lead at the break.

Gomes then rattled the bar in the second period before the night came to an early end for captain Awaziem who was forced off injured 10 minutes from time as the hosts held on to extend their unbeaten run to 3 games and move up to 11th on the standings.

Despite the injury, Awaziem still managed a good outing with a rating of 7.0, made 4 clearances, 2 interceptions, won 4 duels, and also completed 81% of his passes.
