Nigeria’s Bryan Idowu scored his third league goal of the campaign for Russian side FK Khimki as they were humbled 3-1 away from home by Akhmat Grozny, reports.

The 28-year-old lined up in his now accustomed left full-back position for the visitors but it was the host who took the early initiative when they found the back of the net after just 25 minutes courtesy of an Evgeni Khairan strike.

Vladimir Iljin then had his spot-kick saved on the half-hour mark but the strike made amends just before the halftime whistle when he fired home to make it 2-0 to the host going into the break.

Substitute Georgi Melkadze then ensured the points was safe seconds after his introduction when he made it 3-9 before Idowu grabbed a late consolation with a fine strike as the visitors fell to their 10th league loss of the campaign.

Despite the loss, Idowu still managed a fine rating of 7.4, made 3 key passes, completed 81% of his passes, won 5 duels, made 3 clearances and tackles each, and also made one interception.
