*Says he’s fit for away tie against Sporting Braga

Super Eagles and Boavista defender, Chidozie Awaziem has played down talks that he might have suffered a serious injury last weekend in their 2-0 win over Pacos de Ferreira, AOIFootball.com reports.

The on-loan Porto defender, who captained his side to a crucial win, told AOIFootball.com exclusively ahead of their trip to league leaders Sporting Braga, that he hopes to be fully fit and ready for the crunch clash.

“It was nothing serious actually. I suffered a miss-step in the game and I had to be taken off for precautionary reasons and the medics have assessed me and I happen to be fit for our next game against Sporting,” Awaziem revealed.

The 24-year-old added further that the win against Pacos last weekend had given his side a big morale booster and they now hope to build on that to ensure they beat the drop and remain in the elite division of Portuguese football.

Awaziem has captained his side to their best run this campaign as they have gone 3 games unbeaten, winning 2 of those games which is their best run of result since the league started in September of last year.
