Former Super Eagles, defender Sam Sodje has revealed there has been no contact between the Nigeria Football Federation and his family over the future of his highly-rated cousin, Tai Sodje despite the 17-year-old snubbing England, AOIFootball.com reports.

Speaking exclusively to AOIFootball.com, Sam who, also represented Nigeria during his active playing days, said that there is no need to put pressure on the young player who still has a lot to learn in the game.

“No one has spoken to the Nigerian Football Federation yet. I don’t think there is any reason to do that at the moment because he still very young. He just did not feel the need to represent England at this time so there is no need to speak with the NFF.

“I think he should concentrate on his football because he has been doing so well; he is a great player and will be a great asset to Nigeria when the time comes.

“His football his doing the talking for him so I hope when the time comes to represent Nigeria, he would get a fair chance,” Sam Sodje concluded.

Tai Sodje had Benin making the headlines for the Manchester City U-18 team this season, scoring a sensational 25 goals from 18 games.
