Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen was on target for the third consecutive game in the Italian Serie A for Napoli but his goal was not enough to secure them a win as they dropped out of the top 4 spot following a 1-1 draw at home to Cagliari, AOIFootball.com reports.

Having scored in back-to-back wins against Lazio and Torino, the 22-year-old started his 12th league game for the Naples outfit who were hoping to close the gap on second-place Atalanta.

The former Lille of France striker however needed just 13 minutes to put his side ahead when he controlled expertly from a Lorenzo Insigne ball before firing past Alessio Cragno to put the hosts 1-0 up.

The forward then thought he had doubled his side’s lead in the second half but the goal was chopped off for a foul on Godin before he was then replaced 14 minutes from time after suffering an injury to the head.

Napoli will however go on to regret not taking their half-chances earlier in the game as the visitors equalized with almost the last kick of the game via the boots of Nahitan Nandez to steal a vital point at the Diego Maradona Stadium in Naples.

Osimhen, who is now expected to be back soonest following the head injury, took his league tally to 8 goals from 12 starts whilst Napoli fall back to 5th position on the log, two points adrift of Champions League slot.
