Nigerian international, Kelechi Nwakali continued his impressive run with Spanish Segunda side Alcorcon as they defeated Albacete Balompie 1-0 to move out of the drop zone, reports.

With four goals in his last 5 games, the former Golden Eaglets’ captain started in the heart of the midfield for the visitors who were hoping to return to winning ways after last week’s loss against Leganes.

Former Newcastle United striker, Xisco got the visitors off to a flying start as he fired home the opener after just 3 minutes from an assist from fellow countryman and captain, Laure.

The goal did bring out the best from the hosts who came close twice to equalize before the break but a spirited midfield display from Nwakali and Juan Aguilera ensured they preserved their lead at halftime.

The second half was similar to the first but Alcorcon defended ruggedly to pick a vital win on the road and move up to 16th, one point above the relegation zone.

Nwakali who played for the entire 90 minutes, had a game rating of 7.2, completed 72% of his passes, won 7 duels, completed 100% of his dribbles, and also made 6 key interceptions.
