Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has been rewarded for his spectacular performance last weekend as he was named in the Serie A Team of the Week for matchday 35, following a man of the match display against Cagliari, AOIFootball.com reports.

Having impressed since the beginning of last month, scoring in three consecutive league outings, the first time since achieving such feat whilst at Sporting Charleroi in April of 2019, the 22-year-old led the line for Napoli with Champions League football very much within their reach.

With his side already 1-0 up, the Eagles striker made it 2-0 halfway into the half before netting his brace just before halftime for his 5th goal in 4 games and 10th league goal in just 13 starts.

Osimhen then wrapped up a perfect afternoon when he assisted the fourth for Hirving Lorenzo, with Napoli going on to claim an impressive 4-1 win, a performance which saw the Nigerian clinch the man of the match award.

The former Lille striker however missed out on the Serie A top-ranked player of the week, finishing second behind Lorenzo Pellegrini of AS Roma who finished with a perfect 10 rating compared to Osimhen, according to SofaScore.

Osimhen was joined in the first XI by teammates Lorenzo Insigne with AC Millan’s Fikayo Tomori and Roma’s quartet of Pellegrini, Mayoral, Karsdrop, and Mkhitarian also making the star-studded 11.

Osimhen and his Napoli side next face Udinese in a must-win game at home later Tuesday in Naples as a win will enforce their strong push to finish in the top 4 and earn a Champions League spot.
