Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu continued to set the bar high in the Belgian Pro League as he scored his 32nd goal of the season to help KRC Genk maintain their slim chance of clinching the trophy following a 1-1 draw at home to Anderlecht, reports.

With 29 goals in the regular season, the lanky striker continued his rich form in the championship rounds netting twice from 2 games with the game against Anderlecht presenting him with yet another opportunity to edge close to Erwin Vandenbergh’s 40-year record of 39 goals in a single season.

Having failed to win in any of their last three league meetings against Anderlecht, the hosts were hoping to take plenty of confidence from their semifinal cup win last March but it was the visitors who struck first when Anouar Ait El Hadj opened the scoring after the half-hour mark.

Down but not out, Onuachu then put his side back into the tie with a lovely header on 67 minutes following a lovely cross down the right flank from Junya Ito to record his 32nd league goal in just 34 starts, scoring every 89 minutes for the Belgian side.

The win however narrows Genk’s chances of lifting the Pro league as they now stay four points behind leaders Club Brugge who could open up a seven points lead with victory at Royal Antwerp later Thursday.
