Super Eagles defender, Chidozie Awaziem was at his impeccable best for Portuguese side Boavista as they edged closer to league survival following a hard-fought 1-0 win over Portimonense at the Estadio do Bessa XXI, reports.

In what was the penultimate game of the season, the on-loan Porto man started his 27th league game of the campaign with the hosts needing to secure victory and remain on course to finish outside the relegation zone.

After a goalless first 45 minutes the hosts were rewarded for their hard work when Jackson Porozo turned home a Sebastian Perez shot to seal all three points and ensure Boavista stay one point and one place above the relegation zone.

Awaziem who played for the entire match duration had a game rating of 7.4, made 3 clearances, 5 interceptions, 3 tackles, won 8 duels, and also completed 73% of his passes.
