Former Super Eagles striker Odion Jude Ighalo produced a fine display in front of his mother as he scored one and assisted another to help Al- Shabab to a 5-1 bashing of Al Ain, reports.

Still, with a fighting chance of winning the league, the former Watford striker started his 8th league game for the club with Al-Shabab eyed a stop to their poor form having suffered back-to-back losses in the league.

Captain Ever Banega got the hosts to a perfect start when he set up Seba to open the scoring at the half-hour mark before Ighalo combined well with Cristian Guanca to put his side 2-0 and score his 6th goal since joining the club.

Badou Ndiaye then pulled one back for visitors before halftime as they went onto the break 2-1.

Ever Banega however restored Al-Shabab’s two-goal lead when he made it 3-1 before Ighalo then returned the favour to Cristian Guanca as the Argentine made it 4-1 with Igor Lichnovsky sealing the win with a goal seven minutes from time to make it 5-1.

The victory now takes Al-Shabab within 4 points of leaders Al-Hilal, needing them to stumble in any of their last two games to stand the chance of winning the league title.
