Former Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi continued his impressive season with Lithuanian club FK Zalgiris as he helped them reach the second round of the UEFA Champions League qualification playoffs.
It was however a narrow escape for the duo of Rabiu Ibrahim and Ezekiel Henty who also progressed to the next round, AOIFootball.com reports.
Bonke Innocent: The 25-year-old came off the bench for Swedish side Malmo FF as they made their first-leg advantage count following a 1-1 draw away at Latvian side Riga FC to progress 2-1 on aggregate.
Ogenyi Onazi: Having started the first leg’s 3-1 home win on the bench, the former Lazio midfielder was named in the starting XI for the reverse fixture against Northern Ireland’s Linfield FC at Belfast as they hoped to build on the advantage.
The visitors however took the early lead when Saulius Mikoliunas put them 1-0 up on 18 minutes before Onazi doubled their lead just before halftime to put the game beyond the hosts.
The hosts then pulled one back from the spot after the visitors were reduced to 10-men but Onazi and his teammates held on to seal a 5-2 aggregate win.
Ottoh John: The former 36 Lion FC striker led the line for Kosovo side FC Prishtina as they were beaten 1-3 at home to Hungarian side Ferencvarosi TC to complete a 6-1 aggregate loss.
Ezekiel Henty and Rabiu Ibrahim: After winning the first leg 2-0 in Slovakia, Ezekiel Henty led the line for Slovan Bratislava in the second leg away at Shamrock Rovers with Rabium Ibrahim made to start from the bench.
The visitors however put the tie back in the balance when they scored in either half to make it 2-2 on aggregate before a late goal from Vladimir Weiss gave them an away goal to send them through on a 3-2 aggregate scoreline.
Rabiu Ibrahim replaced Henty after the hour mark in the clash as both players progressed to the second qualifying round.
