Super Eagles defender, Shehu Abdullahi clinched yet another trophy with Cyprus side Omonia Nicosia at the expense of his former club, Anorthosis Famagusta to make it a record 17th Super Cup crowns, reports.

The former Kano Pillars defender started at right-back as the league champions opened the scoring on the 13th minute via the boot of Marko Scepovic.

Anorthosis Famagusta, however, equalized before halftime but both teams failed to find the winner in the second half with the game heading straight to penalties.

Abdullahi and his teammates then won the tie 3-2 on penalties to end a nine-year wait for a Super Cup title much to the excitement of Abdullahi, who dedicated the trophy to their amazing fans.

“I am honoured to be part of this amazing achievement; it was our first Super Cup in 9 years.

“The team performance was exciting and the title is for our beloved fans. Excited to see them cheer us on. It will be a great season, Abdullahi,” said after the game.
